Atlantic Beach
Dogs on a leash are allowed on the beach only during the off-season, from Oct. 1
through March 31. Dogs are not permitted on the Boardwalk at any time.
Heckscher State Park - Long Island
Dogs on a leash no longer than 6 feet are allowed on the beach, access in
undeveloped areas only. Dogs are not permitted in camping, bathing and picnic
areas, in buildings or on walkways.
Fire Island National Seashore
During the summer dogs on a leash not longer than 6 feet are permitted in
limited portions of the bayside beaches at the Fire Island Lighthouse, Sailors
Haven, Talisman/Barrett Beach, and Watch Hill and on approximately 200 feet of
ocean beach just east of the Watch Hill lifeguarded beach (area subject to
change as protected birds nest or protected plant species sprout). Dogs are not
permitted at any time on lifeguarded beaches (Watch Hill, Sailors Haven, Barrett
Beach).
Village of Ocean Beach - Fire Island
Dogs on a leash are allowed on the beach only during the off-season, from Sept.
16 through May 14.
Camp Hero State Park - Long Island
Dogs on a leash no longer than 6 feet are allowed in the park year round.
Hither Hills State Park - - Long Island
Dogs on a leash no longer than 6 feet are allowed in the park, access in certain
areas of the park only: north of Montauk Parkway, East of Napeague Harbor and
west of overlook parking. Dogs are not permitted in the camping, bathing and
picnic areas, in buildings or on walkways.
Montauk Point State Park - Long Island
Dogs on a leash no longer than 6 feet are allowed on the beach, access in
certain parks only. Dogs are not permitted in the camping, bathing and picnic
areas, in buildings or on walkways.
Shadmoor State Park - Long Island
Dogs on a leash no longer than 6 feet are allowed in the park year round.
New York
From October 1 until May 1 dogs on a leash no longer than 6 feet are allowed on
the sand and boardwalk at Rockaway Beach, Coney Island & Brighton Beach,
Manhattan Beach, Midland Beach.
Town Access Road Beaches - Southampton
Dogs are allowed on Ocean and Bay Beach Areas within 150 feet of an Access Road
regulated as "Parking-by-Permit Only" area at all times except between July 1st
through Labor Day when they are allowed only before 9 a.m. and after 6 p.m.
Town Owned Beaches - Southampton
Dogs are allowed on all town owned beaches only between October 1st and April
1st.
Gardiner County Park - West Bay Shore
This huge park has wooded trails, a pond and access to the Great South Bay. Dogs
on a leash are allowed on the beach.
