World's Largest Halloween Pet Parade
13th annual HAUTE DOG HOWL'OWEEN PARADE is Sun., Oct. 27, 2013, 2:30
p.m. We will attempt to break the world record for the number of costumed
dogs in a parade. The parade is expected to include more than 500 costumed
dogs and a few thousand human gawkers. Haute Dogs will raise thousands for
spay/neuter programs, rescue groups, Operation Santa Paws and other Long
Beach service projects.
PRIZES FOR THE TOP-10
An entry can be a single dog dressed up, a group of dogs dressed up, a
contingent of dogs with their persons. Each dog must be registered
separately, and paid. Prizes include gift certificates from Wags to Whiskers
Pet Grooming, Belmont Pets & LaunderPet, P ssy & Pooch, and goodies from ORE
REGISTRATION & YAPPY HOUR
Pre-parade "feast"-ivities at noon will include vendor booths, bobbing for
Howl'oweenies, a dog treat stacking contest, a Bulldog Kissing Booth, fun
contests, a pet adoption fair, photo opportunities, and a guess-the-weight
of the HUGE pumpkin contest.
Judging will be based on originality, showmanship, detail of costume and
first impression. Judges will be on the right-hand side of the parading dogs
and within the first block of the parade's route.
CANINE COSTUME CATEGORIES
Prizes will be awarded to the judges' favorite top-13 entries, plus these
four overall awards: best "float," best overall canine costume (on any one
dog), best costume on a human, and best "group theme." A "float" is any
decorated non-motorized device used to pull or push a costumed dog(s) along
the parade route. The "best group theme" award winner(s) must include a min.
of one dog and one human (examples: one dog and two handlers dressed up; or,
two dogs and an owner dressed similarly with a theme) who parade together.
An "entry" can be a costumed dog with or without a "float." An entry can
also be a group of dogs or one dog with a group of people.
